I am a native Californian.I  was born in Oakland and grew up in Auburn, located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. My family moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area where I attended middle school through college. Currently, I reside in Lafayette, California.

“Jack of many trades” comes to mind when talking about my varied careers which include Manager of an aviation company, Police Detective, and Firefighter. Each of these endeavors helped me gain insight into how people work together and allowed me to learn valuable managerial skills that I still use today. However, I came to realize that the one fundamental commonality of these careers is helping people in a meaningful way, and this became my lifetime personal and career goal.

After discovering the financial industry, I began to work for a small mutual fund, first as a Registered Representative. Later, the needs of the mutual fund drew me into management where I served as Sales Manager, Vice President, Executive Vice President, President, Chairman of the Management Company Board of Directors, and the President of the “Trust Fund” Board of Directors.

When the mutual fund was sold to Wells Fargo Bank, I returned to my first financial love: helping clients directly. My current business, Woods Financial and Insurance Services, continues to provide financial assistance and advice to a large number of people as though they were family.

When I’m not working I spend as much time as possible with my dearest friend, Beckie and my two daughters, Laura and Kayla.

I also enjoy volunteering at the Walnut Creek Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer. Doing this allows me to maintain some long-lived skills as well as give something back to the community. In addition, I hold a position on the Board of Directors for the Contra Costa Kops for Kids which gives me the opportunity to apply my knowledge of corporate management to a non-profit organization.

Flying, motorcycles, SCUBA diving, hunting, and fishing fill whatever time remains and gives me the chance to relax and reconnect with myself.
